Pilates exercise

  • Pilates teaches correct breathing and relaxation techniques, This creates a general feeling of well being by releasing stress and tension. You will feel a sense of inner strength, calm and revitalisation after each session.

  • Pilates improves general health. It also improves allignment  which means vital organs are supported and circulatory and immune systems function more efficiently

  • Improves posture, strength and flexibility. It helps in alleviating back and neck pain by simultaneously strengthening the deep abdominal and back muscles which lie close to and support the spine. The spine is allowed to lengthen to its natural height and resulting in an individual becoming more productive and most definitely more successful at every endeavour.

  • Pilates movements target every muscle in the body, it creates long slender limbs and a lean-looking physique.

  • Pilates is perfect for the mature individual due to the low impact of exercises, less stress on joints when performing exercises. It improves balance, individuals are less likely to fall due to the fact that ‘CORE’ muscles, stabilizing muscles and supportive muscles are recruited, enabling exercises to be extremely effective.

  • Pilates keeps you fit and strong during pregnancy, improves post-natal recovery

  • Pilates exercises are oriented towards functional fitness, meaning that Pilates teaches you to move better in general, thereby enhancing performance and reducing risk of injury in other activities

  • The Pilates Method is founded on ‘CORE’ strength. Pilates mat and equipment exercises strengthen not only the outer muscles of the centre of the body but also deep stabilising muscles of the pelvis, abdomen and back – the ‘CORE’ muscles. Core strength supports the back and the neck, giving us healthy posture and freeing the joints to allow natural flexibility of the limbs.

  •

  • Pilates works by re-balancing the body, altering the way in which you recruit muscles to produce movements.

  • It changes the way you use your body, the way you move – restoring natural, normal movement.

  • Pilates exercises are gentle, progressive and performed slowly with good postural alignment at all times. These controlled movements are therefore unlikely to lead to injury or re-injury.

  • Regular Pilates practice typically leads to a stronger, leaner body while developing body awareness and having an overall de-stressing effect on most people.

  • Pilates incorporates strength training as well as supports increased flexibility. Strength and flexibility are of special interest to any person, from sedentary members of society to athletes and cross-trainers.

  • Pilates is a full-body workout and a wonderful way to develop core strength. However, if you are going to depend on Pilates exercises for your strength training, you will probably wish to add the resistance exercises, done with large and small additional Pilates equipment such as balls, bands, rings, reformer, chairs and the cadilac. This will increase your options for developing strength in the limbs as well as the core.

  • Many people value the long lean-look muscles that come from Pilates and are satisfied with the level of integrative, moderate strength training that Pilates provides

  • Pilates resistance training is enough to give you functional power, help you build bone density and burn more calories because muscle is a calorie burner.

  • Pilates will help you do weight  training with better alignment, greater range of motion and integrative focus.
